The Joyful Hound
Hi, I’m Angela — the human behind The Joyful Hound.
I believe every dog deserves to feel safe, understood, and joyful — and that dog guardians deserve support, education, and peace of mind as they care for their companions. Whether it’s a quiet neighborhood walk, an exciting adventure, a training session, or somewhere for your dog to crash while your on vacation, my goal is to make every interaction positive, thoughtful, and tailored to each dog’s unique needs.
For over nine years, I’ve worked full-time in the dog care and training industry. My experience includes working for a local shelter and large training facility, and then earning my certification from The Academy for Dog Trainers, a rigorous 2 year program.
While I work with all dogs, I specialize in working with dogs who may not be the “easy” ones — those with big feelings and the sensitive souls who need a little extra time and patience to feel safe. My training and handling methods are humane, science-based, and built on a modern understanding of how animals learn. I focus on meeting each dog’s species- and breed-specific needs, providing safe and supportive experiences, and working at a pace that’s right for them.
The relationship I build with each client — both canine and human — truly matters to me. Once you become part of The Joyful Hound family, you’ll have ongoing access to guidance, support, and encouragement. I’m looking for clients who want an ongoing relationship and see dog training as a lifelong journey they get to have with their canine companion. My clients text, call, and email with questions, updates, and funny dog stories — and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I grew up here in Tulsa, though I spent much of my adult life in Colorado and Massachusetts before moving back with my husband and our wonderful dogs. When I’m not working, I’m probably puttering around in my garden, studying dog behavior (because I’m a bit of a nerd about it), or spending time with family and friends.
If you’re looking for thoughtful, relationship-based care for your dog — and you value joy and kindness in the training process — I’d love to hear from you. And if I’m not the right fit for your needs, I’ll gladly recommend one of the many excellent trainers or care providers I trust here in Tulsa.
Because every dog deserves to be fully understood.
